Get to know a Google SMB Account Strategist (EMEA)
March 6, 2014
Ever wondered what it is like to work as an SMB Account Strategist in Google EMEA? Then read on!
Magda Gameel is an SMB Account Strategist (German) in Google Wroclaw. Magda will be taking part in our ‘Day in the Life of an SMB Account Strategist’ Hangout on Air on March 13th. You can find out more information about the Hangout and how you can get involved at the end of this post.
1. Introduce Yourself!
Hi, my name is Magda and I’m working for SMB Services for the DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) market. I studied International Management in Berlin and have been working at Google for one year now. I am based in Wroclaw, Poland.
2. What's the coolest thing about your job?
My Team. I get to work in a great environment with amazing people. We work together very well and I learn a lot from others, be it, team Leaders or peers. I really enjoy the fact that hierarchy is less important than in other companies; even though people may be more senior and have more responsibilities, everyone is approachable and interested in what you have to say.
In my core role I get to learn about Google’s products; not only AdWords, but also YouTube, G+, Local and other fun stuff you can use. With every client interaction, you get to know Google a bit more and it is a great learning path.
3. How did you get here?
I always dreamt about working in Wroclaw ever since I heard from friends that there is a Google office there. At some point, I visited Wroclaw (I was studying in Berlin back at the time) and came to the office during a Start-Up event.
I fell in love with the atmosphere and the unique work place with great, approachable people. I immediately felt at home and applied for a job the following week.
4. What makes you Googley?
I was very lucky to be born into a multicultural environment. On top of the ability to master different languages at the youngest age, I also learned about differences in cultures, habits and approaches. In a company like Google, this is definitely an asset, because we are working with people from different nationalities and backgrounds on a day-to-day basis.
I am very energetic and I am also always glad to help in any possible way. It is important to be a good team player and to enjoy this vibrant environment we have in our young Wroclaw office.
The University Programmes Team EMEA proudly presents ‘Day in the Life of an SMB Account Strategist’ Hangout on Air on 13th March 2014 from 14:30 - 15:30 GMT. You can find out

Hangout on Air with Research at Google - Live in Lyon from WWW 2012
April 16, 2012
Googlers are taking an active part in the ongoing dialogue with the research community at the
World Wide Web (WWW)
conference, happening this week in Lyon, France. While we’ve been a member and supporter of the community for years, we’re excited to bring the research at Google discussion to Google Plus for the first time. This Wednesday, April 18 at 16:30 CET, members of our technical team will be hosting a Hangout on Air live from the Google Booth at WWW.
Tune in at
Google Students page on Google+
. Our technical team is taking on topics like the interplay between engineering and research required for product innovation and tips on how to be a well-rounded researcher.
We’re taking your questions too about research at Google and Google at WWW -- the very conference to which Larry and Sergey published their paper on PageRank more than a decade ago. Submit your questions (and vote on others) on the
WWW 2012 Google Moderator page
or via Google+ using the hashtag #GoogleWWW2012 in a publicly shared post.
After the conference, we’ll add video of the discussion to the
Hangouts On Air playlist
on the Google Students YouTube channel.

Google Online Marketing Challenge Learning Series: Google+ & Social Media Award!
April 4, 2012
Introduction: The
Google Online Marketing Challenge
is a global competition providing students with the opportunity to learn about online marketing by using Google AdWords. Our first
GOMC Hangout on Air
provided general information about the Challenge, and we have decided to create a Learning Series to help students successfully compete in all aspects of the Competition!
Has your team created a
Google+ Business Page
for your partnering company to compete for the Social Media Award? Traditionally, the
Google Online Marketing Challenge
has provided students the opportunity to partner with an organization to use AdWords for online marketing. For the 2012 Challenge, we introduced a new award, the
Social Media Award
, to enable students to incorporate social as another means for effective online advertising by creating
Google+ Business Pages
for their partnering businesses. We understand that some student teams may not be too familiar with Google+, so we will be covering what it is and how it works in our first GOMC Learning Series
Hangout on Air
!
If you have questions you’d like answered, we encourage you to submit them via Google+ or Twitter using the hashtag #GOMCseries or by completing the form
here
. We’ll collect a list of questions and answer them live during the Hangout on Air next week!
